Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

Welcome to the Nashville Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

jack_jill_REAL_logoThe late Marion Stubbs Thomas founded Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated on January 21, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Twenty mothers came together to discuss creating an organization to provide social, cultural and educational opportunities for youth between the ages of two and nineteen.

In 1946, ten chapters were involved in the national restructuring process. Constitution and bylaws were drawn up and the organization was incorporated under the laws of the state of Delaware.

Today, Jack and Jill boasts over 220 chapters nationwide, representing over 30,000 family members. Each chapter plans annual programming activities guided under a national theme. Through service projects, Jack and Jill of America creates a medium of contact for children to stimulate their growth and development.

To us as mothers, it [Jack and Jill] has become a means of furthering an inherent and natural desire …to bestow upon our children all the opportunities possible for a normal and graceful approach to a beautiful adulthood.” Marion Stubbs Thomas.

In July, 2012, Jack and Jill of America, Inc, began its celebration of 75 years of “Living the Legacy” at its 40th Biennial National Convention where it all started–Philadelphia, PA.  The theme: Honoring Our Past, Celebrating Our Present, Securing Our Future was very befitting of our AIM initiatives of Achieving Excellence, Inspiring Greatness, Motivating Youth to Lead and Serve. The Mothers also voted on our 23rd National President, Tamara Turnley Robinson who comes from the Nashville Chapter’s very own Southeastern Region!  She promises to bring “membership innovation, efficiencies and value” with the new National Theme – Power & Potential: Parents Empowering Youth through Leadership Development, Cultural Heritage and Community Service.”  The 75th Anniversary actually takes place on January 21, 2013 and we are excited about what NP Robinson will add under her leadership to take Jack and Jill of America, Inc into the next 75 years.
